Filter Media – Manganese Greensand

Manganese Greensand is used to remove iron, manganese and hydrogen sulphide from water resources.

It is processed from the mineral glauconite (commonly referred to as zeolites).

Using iron exchange properties of this natural zeolite, a manganese dioxide coating is deposited on the surface of the glauconite grains. The manganese dioxide acts as a vehicle in the oxidation reduction reaction of iron and manganese. The media can be used in two methods of operations: continuous regeneration (CR) and intermittent regeneration (IR).

Our Manganese Greensand is used alone or in combination with filter coal in dual media filtration systems. It ensures effective:

  • reduction of hydrogen sulfide
  • iron reduction over a wide pH range
